Listening

A friend of mine just introduced me to this self-titled album by Asobi Seksu and I have not stopped listening to it since. Check out their website and download a few mp3s.
This album was originally released in 2002 but was rereleased last year on Friendly Fire with new art work by Sean McCabe. Asobi Seksu is suppoesed to amazing live and I'll be able to tell you if that's true or not next week. They will be playing at the Bowery Ballroom opening for Razorlight.
Reading

I love this book, The Man Who Ate Everything, and I never want it to end... but I know, someday, that I will finish it and fortunately for me there was a sequel.
I may be the last person on earth to read this collection of food essays that originally appeared in Vogue magazine, but I could go through these again and again.
The pieces range from overcoming food phobias, to baking the perfect loaf of bread, to a history of and the taste-testing for the best ketchup, to what makes pure water taste "pure"... and I'm only a quarter of the way through.
For the first time since some of Tom Robbin's early novels I am deliberately reading a book slowly to savor ever enormously entertaining sentence.
Watching

Tonight was the season premiere of 24. Two hours! And another two hours on Monday night! I am so happy. I am perfectly comfortable in saying that 24 is one of my guilty television pleasures. It's so good! I make no apologies. I am also pleased to report that, so far... two hours into it, there is no sign of Jack Bauer's daughter. But Chloe's back! That moody bitch. Whoo hoo!
It only took me about 10 or fifteen minutes to get totally wrapped up in it all over again. And although nothing may ever beat that first season... so far this is looking really good.
