For Real

For Real For Real
Last Wednesday I saw what turned out to be the last show for For Real For Real. I arrived at the Delancey about 15 minutes before their midnight set and ran into Derrick at the bar. He said that the schedule was way behind, there were two bands still to go before they went on and it was causing more than a little tension with the band. I settled down on a couch with a beer and prepared to wait it out.

For Real For Real Derrick and I talked for a bit despite the extraordinary volumes acheived in the small basement space. Anyone that knows me knows that once the volume gets to a certain level. my voice just gives out and I might as well use sign language or flash cards. That's when it's time for smile and nod mode and I just hope for the best.

For Real For Real After a bit of unpleasantness with the band right before, For Real For Real went on around 1 AM (actually looking now at the photos that I uploaded to Flickr, they went on closer to 12:30 I believe). The set was really good and they sounded great, but the damage was already done. By the end of the last song it was pretty clear that is was over.

So here are a few photos from that night...

Greetings from San Francisco

Hey. I'm out in San Francisco right now staying with my friends Eric and Julia. I just thought I'd try my hand at a remote post while I was away and give a little update. So far I've been having a great time wandering the city and checking out all sorts of things. I caught an in-store performance by Sons & Daughters last weekend at Amoeba Records on the Haight, took tons of pictures of street art along the Mission, dodged crack heads on Fillmore, sought out the elusive Yoda Fountain at the Presidio, and two nights ago took in a double feature at the Castro Theatre for 'Battle of the Divas' - a week of films starring either Joan Crawford or Bette Davis. It reaches a climax this Friday at midnight with 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane'. I'll let you know who wins.

Anyway, it been an amazing time so far. I know that when Sunday rolls around I won't want to leave. It takes me a few days, but I always warm up to San Francisco in the end.

I have taken a multitude of photos but I may have to wait until I get back to post those. I can't for the life of me remember my passwords to ftp stuff. Ah well.

Hope everyone is well.,. talk to you when I get back.
