Returning to normal... slowly.
Hey. So I had surgery on Tuesday, nothing really serious. I was back home Tuesday afternoon. Matthew from work was kind enough to see me home, pick up my meds and make sure hobos didn't steal my shoes.
Getting back to normal has taken awhile however, but I'm starting to feel a lot better. For the most part I've been in the apartment as it was too painful to get around. Also the medication I have been on causes me to fall asleep within a half hour of taking it.
Unable to get up or reach things easily, I have to carefully plan out my activities and surroundings. There was only one dicey moment: when Rachael Ray came on the Food Network - babbling on and on about something and leering at me with that disturbing Cesar Romero smile - and I couldn't reach the remote to turn the channel. Mercifully, I blacked out and when I awoke it was over.
On Thursday, Mia came by with precious precious ice cream and visited with me for awhile. This was a well timed visit as I was on the verge of leaning out onto the fire escape and harrassing passers-by with random demands and advice. Probably not a recommended course of action with a head full of Hydrocodone. Thank you, Mia.
But anyway, things are looking up. Last night I was out with friends and didn't have any trouble keeping up. Today it was so nice out that I took a little walk and picked up some more stuff at the grocery. I anticipate feeling damn good tomorrow too.
Thanks to everybody that said hey. Talk to ya later.

Today's weirdness
The elevators in our building at work are tiny. Really really small. Two people and it feels crowded, three people and chances are you're all touching. At times we have stuffed as many a eight inside and it's ridiculous... you can't even move - but at least we all know one another. So anyway, tonight on the way home I get on the elevator and there's already one guy and a woman with a dog. A big boxer. As soon as the elevator door closes the dog looks up at me all sad and suddenly unleashes a torrent of urine... just hosing down the floor and there's seriously nowhere to go. The woman is pulling on the leash saying: Atticus! No! Atticus! No!, but of course it's too late... the dog just soaks the elevator with pee. The other guy and I just look at each other. I mean, what do you do? What do you do?
I'm not sure what Atticus was trying to communicate to me right before he lost all control, but I bet it was important.

Mountain Goats
Saw the Mountain Goats at the Knitting Factory on Thursday. Their new album, The Sunset Tree came out late last month. They were great and I was going to go see them again at North 6 on Saturday, but I couldn't get my shit together.
I am going to make a promise to myself that this is the last weekend I am going to spend working in my apartment and not getting outside at all. Especially when the sun is out and all.
